von Essen hotels named AA Hotel Group of the Year

 von Essen hotels received national acclaim when it was named Hotel Group of the year at the AA Hospitality Awards 2009 - 2010. The AA, celebrating the best in hospitality for over 100 years, held the glamorous black-tie ceremony, hosted by Natasha Kaplinsky, at the London Hilton on Park Lane on 28 September.
Andrew Davis, founder and chairman of von Essen hotels received the award in front of a high profile audience of 800 members of the hospitality industry, including world-renowned ‘celebrity’ chefs, prominent hoteliers, hospitality gurus and key industry media. He said: “I am proud and delighted to collect this prestigious AA award. It is the culmination of 13 years hard work where we have grown to a collection of 28 luxury country house hotels in the UK and France, with exciting plans to launch our Metropolitan set of city based hotels very soon.”
von Essen Hotels is a private collection of individual country house hotels in the UK and France that have been personally chosen by Andrew Davis, to combine the most stunning locations and surroundings with properties that are architecturally breathtaking and individually charming.
AA Hotel Services Group Area Manager Giovanna Grossi said: “We selected von Essen hotels as Hotel Group of the year because they have demonstrated clear evidence of impressive investment, quality recruitment and outstanding achievement of accolades such as AA Rosettes and Red Stars.”
The AA Hospitality Awards recognise and reward the excellent services provided by the UK’s very best establishments and launches the 2010 AA guides to UK hotels and restaurants.
This year, guests were treated to a sensational three course gourmet meal prepared by three of the industry’s most highly esteemed chefs - Eric Chavot, Chris Galvin and Gary Rhodes - in conjunction with the Hilton Park Lane kitchen team. The guests also enjoyed a special performance by Britain’s Got Talent winners Diversity.
Selection is made based on overall excellence and the specific achievements throughout the previous year. Other AA Hospitality Awards 2009 – 2010 winners were:
