Seaham Hall’s White Room Restaurant has been awarded a Michelin Star under the guidance of head chef Kenny Atkinson. The White Room Restaurant offers a selection of Modern British inspired menus. The A la Carte Dinner Menu showcases the best of British and includes Isle of Skye Scallops, Northumberland Pork served with Isle of Skye Langoustine, Shetland Salmon served with a Risotto of Scarborough Crab and Cornish Seabass.
Kenny Atkinson who is originally from Newcastle has worked across the UK at some of the most renowned establishments including St. Martins on the Isle located on the Isles of Scilly where he was Executive Head Chef and where he won a Michelin Star. Prior to this Kenny also made his culinary presence felt at The Greenway Hotel in Gloucestershire where he was Head Chef and The Cotswold House where he was Sous Chef together with various others.
Kenny’s use of diverse ingredients has lead to several other achievements including being a finalist in the Midland Chef of the Year competition and winning the Norwegian Seafood Challenge in 2003.
The White Room Restaurant at Seaham Hall, the only 5 star property in the North East of England with 19 bedrooms also offers a selection of all day dining options. Kenny has introduced a Market Menu priced at £38.00 per head and the lunch time menu starts at £17.50 per head for 2 courses and features White Onion Risotto with Parmesan and Cepe and Grilled Seabream with New Potatoes and Fennel served with Bouillabaisse Jus.
Wine is treated with the respect it deserves at Seaham Hall. Built in 1791, Seaham Hall has original vaulted cellars, which have stored fine wines for over two centuries. The wine list features a selection of wines from both the Old World and New World and in total there are 350 wines to choose from. The team in the White Room Restaurant lead by Alasdair Elwick will recommend either a bottle for the meal or a selection of wines paired to the various courses. The Menu Prestige which showcases 11 dishes paired with wines is truly a treat; Pig’s Cheek, Split Peas and Langoustine Menetou Salon for example is paired with a 2006 Domanie Joseph Mellot from France.
The White Room Restaurant is firmly shining in the North East of England.
